Measuring H2S and H2O in propane

Monitoring contaminant levels to meet purity specifications

Recovering natural gas liquids (NGLs); ethane, propane, butane and C5+ liquid condensates from natural gas involves cryogenic processing in a series of fractionation columns. The purity specifications for propane and other NGL fractionation products are based on their intended use and downstream processing. H2S and H2O are measured at the outlet of the depropanizer and at downstream custody transfer points to ensure purity specifications are met in agreements between suppliers, carriers, and end users.
