Gas processors attending the event will hear Greg Lankford, Director of Business Development at SpectraSensors, discuss the basics of Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) analyzer technology, the ability to obtain rapid and accurate moisture measurements even in the presence of methanol, and the positive financial benefits that can be achieved by the plant by improving overall operational efficiency.

For plants that have been operating for decades, improvements may be achieved through the integration and implementation of modern automation and control strategies enabled by TDL analyzers. Lankford will discuss how an on-line SSI TDL moisture analyzer was installed at a gas plant in Oklahoma to monitor dryer bed performance. The data is used to protect the cryogenic unit and has helped determine the most effective frequency of dryer regeneration. The result has been an increase in operator confidence, reduction in fuel consumption and the frequency of molecular sieve bed regeneration, thereby extending the molecular sieve life. Longer term, the optimized operation will have fewer upsets and freeze-ups.
